Patch 7.3 Changes
This Blacksmithing leveling guide will show you the fastest and easiest way how to level your Blacksmithing skill up from 1 to Blacksmithing is the best combined with Mining and I highly recommend to level Mining and Blacksmithing together because you will need a lot of gold if you want to buy everything from Auction House. Check out my Mining leveling guide if you want to level Mining. If you are low on gold, I recommend you to try this Gold Making Guide , it can help you to make loads of gold. If you are still leveling your character or you just started a new alt, I recommend you to use a leveling guide. You can level your character to level in 8 days with this guide. If your character is below level 90 , visit my Blacksmithing Leveling Guide for players below level This guide is for level players. Choose the one that’s cheaper. At the start of the expansion it will probably be cheaper to make draenor recipes for a while. But, if you farm the materials, then I would recommend to choose the Legion recipes because you can get [Blood of Sargeras] from mining Legion ores.
Legion Changes
Just walk up to a guard in a city, you can ask them where the Blacksmithing trainer is located. You have to get a [Draenor Blacksmithing] scroll to upgrade your maximum Blacksmithing skill to This scroll will also teach you a few basic recipes which you will use to level Blacksmithing. They will give you 10 skill points, and each of them require 60 ores to craft, so you will need ores to reach If you decide you want to farm the ores instead of buying them, then visit my Blackrock Ore farming guide or True Iron Ore farming guide. You shouldn’t use these recipes for more skill points because you will be just waisting ores.
Legion Changes
Blacksmithing is one of the professions I have neglected in Legion. There is really no reason for this however, as it has some very nice potential for profits. I have found that the item level crafted profession gear has been great throughout the expansion. Even at rank 2 recipes it is often profitable. About 3 weeks ago I crafted up some Demonsteel bracers and gloves. Blacksmithing is very similar to tailoring for the gear. You need to craft an intermediate material, in this case Demonsteel Bars. You will know where it is as you do the Blacksmithing quest line. Before we unlock the rank 2 recipes we obviously need to get the rank 1s. The rank 1 recipes for all the demonsteel recipes are unlocked from completing the blacksmithing questline. I suggest checking out the Wowhead blacksmithing guide for an overview of the quests and help in completing them.
Without the use of certain premium addons ive found no way to know wich possible affixes can be crafted and what crafted gear would benefit a spec the most,,,there used to be a list of best in slot gear items wich could be filtered to show only crafted gear on a character,,it was helpful when deciding wich affix to shoot for while crafting,,,most sites this expansion are showing only legendarys in their BiS list,,,this doesnt help with crafting atm. Comment by Raionyx Slightly inaccurate as of launch. The Demonsteel Stirrups pattern is acquired in a different way, as I have it without hunting for it, and it requires 8 Demonsteel Bars to craft.

Comment by saillaw Once you have all the demonsteel recipes, as far as I can see, the only point of bothering to level to is if you want to be able to use the Recipe: Fel Core Hound Harness for the Fel Core Hound BS exclusive mount. But since the Nighthold is not yet live you cant get that recipe.
So, there doesn’t seem to be any reason to rush to lvl for BS. Given the high cost of mats at the moment, you’re probably better off just using the Darkmoon Faire quest Baby Needs Two Pair of Shoes for 5 level each time Darmoon Faire is up, at least until the Nighthold raid goes live and you momey actually get the mount recipe.
This is especially true for the last 10 or so levels of Blacksmithing since the level 3 demonsteel recipies are green at this point and mqking bad rng you might have to make as many as 6 or so, of each item for every skill-up.
